A Jordanian physician, served as the Minister of Health in the Jordanian government of Bisher Al-Khasawneh in 2021. He was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Jordan in 2016, and in 2020 he was appointed as the spokesperson for the COVID-19 file. Currently, he holds the position of President of the University of Jordan.
He holds a Bachelor's degree in Medicine and Surgery from Plovdiv Medical University in Bulgaria in 1985, and a Master's degree in Internal Medicine from the University of Jordan in 1994. He completed a fellowship in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine from the University of Sydney in Australia in 2000, and obtained the Jordanian Board in Respiratory Medicine in 2002.
