Professor Dr. Tahrir Hamdi


A literature professor known for anti-colonialism and resistance, she currently serves as the President of the Arab Open University in Jordan.

In 2020, she won the Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Arab Researchers and Scientists as the best researcher in the field of humanities.

In 2023, her book "Imagining Palestine" was shortlisted for the best book in the world about Palestine in English for the year 2022-2023 in the Palestine Book Awards.

She is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Holy Land and Palestine Studies, published by the University of Edinburgh in Scotland.

Currently, she is working on a book about the revolutionary thought of Ghassan Kanafani and his political writings in collaboration with the Irish researcher Louis Brennan, which involves contributions from several thinkers around the world and will be published by Pluto Books.

Her research focuses on the literature of resistance, colonial theory, and the importance of place in literature.
