Dr. Fayyad held the position of President of the German-Jordanian University and was the first and only woman to serve as president of a Jordanian university. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Chemistry in 1972 and her Master's degree in Chemistry in 1974 from the University of Jordan. She also earned her PhD in Chemistry in 1978 from the University of Bonn.
